It will be the last action for a while but the Copa Superliga wrapped up its first round of fixtures on Monday evening with victories for Colón and Argentinos Juniors.
Eduardo Domínguez was taking charge of his first game since returning to Colón as manager and despite the club not winning in ten league games prior within half an hour El Sabalero were three goals up at the Gigante de Arroyito.
A goalmouth scramble saw Rafael Delgado nod in the opening after 18 minutes and almost immediately Wilson Morelo raced in behind the Central defence to round Jeremías Ledesma to score.
Central thought they should have had a penalty soon after and while their appeals were going unheard, Colón broke at speed allowing Tomás Chancalay to slide in a third.
Marco Ruben managed to bundle a goal back straight after half time but it failed to set up a roaring second half comeback and Colón claimed a hugely important win that lifted them out of the relegation zone.
Earlier in La Fortaleza, Kevin Mac Allister’s first half header was enough to give Argentinos Juniors victory over Lanús.
A poor first 45 minutes saw the full-back head past Agustín Rossi moments before Hernán Mastrángelo drew the action to a close and although Lanús improved after the break a Marcelino Moreno header that clipped off the crossbar was the closest the home side came to an equaliser.
Fernando Belluschi was sent off late on for what was deemed a studs up challenge and it brought to an end a pretty frustrating evening for the Granate.
