History
Relative newcomers, Arsenal de Sarandi were founded in 1957 by Hector and Julio Humberto Grondona. Julio is now the President of the AFA which could go someway to explain their rise to winning the clausura in 2012.
The club’s most famous player is Jorge Burruchaga, who started as a player in 1979 but has had a couple of stints as manager too. Burru is more famous for scoring the winning goal in the 1986 World Cup Final for Argentina.
