Sabella names strong latest squad for WC double header

Sabella and his trusty front quartet of Messi, Aguero, Higuain and Di Maria

Alejandro Sabella has named his provisional squad for the World Cup Qualifiers with Peru and Uruguay in October and despite qualification already guaranteed it is as strong as ever. Javier Macherano has been named despite injury concerns and he joins captain Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain and Angel Di Maria, who return from suspension. For the full squad and more…..

Carlos Tevez is still absent despite a strong start to life in Turin with Juventus but Serie A’s form side, Inter Milan provide 3 players to the squad.¬†Hugo Campagnaro, Ricky Alvarez and Rodrigo Palacio are all named while Mauro Icardi failed to do enough to break into the squad, who is reportedly on the radar of the Italian National Side. Icardi is obviously not going to be ahead of the more recognised players in the squad but La Seleccion would not want to see him poached by Italy.

There were also recalls to Cristian Ansaldi, Marcos Rojo and Jose Sosa, the latter two being very familiar to Sabella from Estudiantes.

Argentina face Peru in El Monumental on October 11 and Uruguay in Montevideo on October 15.
