In Florencia Varela, Defensa y Justicia claimed back-to-back wins for the first time this season with a 1-0 win over Newell’s Old Boys. Brian Fernández’s breakaway goal in the second half proved decisive in spite of the home side finishing the match with 10 men. Newell’s had a golden opportunity to leave with at least a point but Ignacio Scocco saw his 84th minute penalty come back off the post.
