Colón eased the pressure being exerted from sections of their own supporters with a valuable 3-1 win on Friday night against Olimpo and ended a five-match winless run. Víctor Figueroa headed the home side in front shortly before half time and although the match hung in the balance for a long period, it was eventually decided in the 79th minute when Tomás Sandoval doubled the lead. Olimpo had Néstor Moiraghi sent off a minute from time but did pull a goal back in stoppage time through Joel Amoroso. However, there was still time for Gerónimo Poblete to tuck the ball past Nereo Champagne and make it three.
In Paraná, Patronato quickly brought Atlético Rafaela back down to earth after La Crema had celebrated a first win in ten with victory with last weekend’s reverse fixture. Los Rojinegros went ahead just before the break when Fernando Telechea smashed in a loose ball from close range and although Ignacio Pussetto equalised six minutes into the second half, the home side responded well. Nicolás Bertocchi’s fierce long range volley will be a contender for goal of the month but more importantly it proved to the match winner as Patronato claimed a first win in four matches.
