Javier Pastore and Ezequiel Lavezzi have given Argentina some cause for concern after both players were unable to train with the squad due to injury with just over a week until the Copa América Centenario kicks off.

Paris St Germain midfielder, Pastore has a small muscle tear in his calf while his former teammate in France, Lavezzi arrived from China with a hamstring injury.

Neither were able to train with the rest of the squad in Ezeiza and will be assessed by the national team medical staff. However, with the opening Copa América game against Chile on June 3rd it leaves little time to recover.

Gerardo Martino must now decide whether he wants to call replacements with Lanús’ Lautaro Acosta already mentioned as a possibility.

Given the underwhelming reception that Martino’s Copa América squad received it is another blow to the tournament preparation.
