Talk of Giovani Lo Celso’s transfer to Paris Saint Germain has rumbled on for months but Rosario Central vice-president Ricardo Carloni confirmed on Thursday that the deal is “missing only a few details” and that it will be a “historic” sale.
Only a day prior to Carloni’s interview the news was leaked that this weekend Lo Celso may travel to France to put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the Ligue 1 champions and that appears to have now been confirmed.
Speaking to Argentine sports channel TyC, Carloni said, “Negotiations are well advanced and only a few details and technicalities are missing.”
Without disclosing much information of the transfer of one of Argentina’s most promising young players, the vice-president added, “We are talking about a sale that is historic for our club and for Argentine football.”
Details of the fee were not disclosed but it is expected to be around $15 million.
“We must be cautious because as of yet it is not definitely closed but it is very advanced,” explained Carloni before adding that whether the deal goes through or not Lo Celso would remain at Central until December.
