Hernán Toledo is the latest Argentine prospect to make the leap to European football after completing a loan deal with Serie A side Fiorentina. The talented 20-year-old shone in a youthful Vélez Sarsfield side in the past six months and was recently snapped up by third-party, Stellar Group for €7.5m.
The latest step in the forward’s development sees him join Fiorentina on loan and Toledo expressed his delight with the transfer.
“I have very, very positive sensations,” he told FirenzeViola.it.
“I am truly happy to come to a top level league like Serie A. I can’t wait to get started.
“I am happy to have reached an agreement with such an important club. I’m really eager to start training with my new teammates and give my best to the side.
“The player I model myself on is Ángel Di María. I find his football enchanting.”
It isn’t clear whether this move will be made permanent but it is a good step for a 20-year-old of enormous potential.
Toledo featured in our countdown of top Argentine youngsters after a Torneo 2016 in which he provided a glimmer of light in an otherwise disappointing Vélez campaign. Full of pace and trickery, Toledo has been vital to El Fortín’s attack – scoring one and assisting four.
