Atlético Tucumán suffer narrow defeat to Junior in Copa Libertadores playoff first leg (VIDEO)

There was no repeat of the drama from Atlético Tucumán’s last Copa Libertadores away day but El Decano have it all to do if they are to reach the group stages following a 1-0 defeat to Junior in Cartagena.

Pablo Lavallén will feel that his side could have got something after a number of missed chances and knows that they must take their chances next week in the Monumental if they are to progress.

The dangerous Fernando Zampedri had gone closest for the visitors when his curling effort came off the base of the post and within minutes, Atlético were behind.

Bernardo Cuesta raced away down the right and his low cross was slid past Cristian Lucchetti by forward Robinson Aponzá.

Without an away goal, El Decano’s position is precarious but in front of their own supporters, Lavallén will still sense that his side can turn this around.

Junior  1 – 0  Atlético Tucumán
