Germán Denis has been little more than a fringe player since his switch to Lanús but the veteran striker scored twice in the last ten minutes to give Lanús victory over Arsenal in Sarandí.

A sensational lobbed finish in the 81st minute finally broke the deadlock and in stoppage time El Tanque skipped around Pablo Santillo to wrap up the win. The champions’ defence disappeared a long time ago but with the win Jorge Almirón’s side climbed up into the Copa Sudamericana spots while Arsenal remain just above the drop zone.

In Córdoba, a sensational Leonardo Gil free kick spared Guido Herrera’s blushes after the usually reliable goalkeeper’s fluffed clearance had gifted Atlético Tucumán’s Cristian Menéndez an equaliser. Sebastián Palacios had volleyed La T into a half time lead but Herrera’s blooper looked for a moment as though it would cost the home side. However, Gil expertly found the top corner from a set-piece just outside the penalty area and it proved to be the winner.

Defensa y Justicia’s fine form continued with a 1-0 win over Tigre in Florencio Varela. With the visitors having Diego Sosa sent off early, El Halcón’s superiority eventually told when Andrés Rios headed past Javier Garcia on the hour mark. The win marks a seventh consecutive clean sheet for Sebastián Beccacece’s side and only two points dropped during that unbeaten run.

Defensa y Justicia  1 – 0  Tigre

Arsenal  0 – 2  Lanús

Talleres  2 – 1  Atlético Tucumán
