Following the disappointment of the international break and Juventus’ humbling Champions League defeat to Barcelona in midweek, Paulo Dybala provided a simply brilliant response on Sunday with a hat-trick in the 3-1 win over Sassuolo.

On his 100th appearance for Juventus, Dybala took his tally to 52 goals, eight in four this season, and helped the Old Lady maintain their 100% start to the Serie A campaign.

The 23-year-old opened the scoring with a sensational first-time shot from outside the box after quarter on an hour and doubled the lead minutes into the second half with an instinctive toe-poke through a crowded penalty box.

Sassuolo did pull a goal back through Matteo Politano but Dybala made certain of the points and completed his second hat-trick of the season with a wonderfully struck free-kick.

The goals make Dybala the first Juventus player to score in each of the first four Serie A games and his haul of eight in that period is the first time since Wayne Rooney in 2011 to score as many in the opening four rounds in any of Europe’s top five leagues.

Dybala couldn’t be in better form and inevitably the 23-year-old fielded questions once again on comparisons with compatriot, Lionel Messi.

“I’m Dybala. It’s not that I don’t like the comparison, but he’s a legend,” the Juve youngster said.

“He has done things that no one has ever done in the history of football. I don’t want to be compared to anyone. You can send the messages but I want to have my own career and win my own trophies.”
