We have a title race on our hands. Boca Juniors’ recent blip has swiftly flipped what looked like a certain defence on its head as San Lorenzo recorded a fifth victory in six matches to move level on points at the top, albeit having played a game more.
Atlético Tucumán were the visitors to the Nuevo Gasómetro on Thursday evening and couldn’t prevent an in-form San Lorenzo chalking up another three points.
Six minutes were on the clock when Gabriel Gudiño raced clear behind the visitors’ defence, clipping the ball across goal for Nicolás to head into an empty net.
Atlético certainly stretched the home side and were it not for the intervention of Nicolás Navarro in goal would have been level. El Decano will perhaps feel they should have been in the second half when Gervasio Núñez had a header ruled out for the most marginal of offside decisions.
However, San Lorenzo wrapped up the points eight minutes from time. Blandi this time ran clear and squared for youngster Nicolás Reniero to tap in the second.
Gudiño should have added a third, instead hitting the post with the goal gaping but San Lorenzo secured victory and drew level with Boca.
