Huracán have been linked with a huge number of centre forwards in the transfer window but Norberto Briasco was the match winner on Friday evening as El Globo beat Banfield in what was a poor friendly in Mar del Plata.
Both sides are still likely to do business in the window and look short of quality judging by their meeting in the Estadio José María Minella. Banfield came closest to breaking the deadlock with Darío Cvitanich heading against the post in the first half but it was Huracán who led on the hour mark, Briasco sliding in Carlos Aruajo’s low cross.
Banfield searched for an equaliser but failed to create many clear chances and Julio César Falcioni will be aware of his side’s lack of goals and reliance on Cvitanich.
A little later in Salta, Atlético Tucumán met Talleres and in another typically early preseason match, it was a game of few moments of quality.
Lucas Olaza came closest to winning it in normal time with a stinging shot that beat Atlético Tucumán debutant Augusto Batalla but came back off the post.
And so with the friendly to be decided from the penalty spot, Batalla proved to be the match winner. The on-loan River Plate goalkeeper saved from Olaza and when Fernando Juárez blazed over, El Decano celebrated victory.
Huracán 1 – 0 Banfield
Atlético Tucumán 0 – 0 Talleres
4-3 on penalties
