Copa Sudamericana: Colón take commanding first leg lead over Deportivo Municipal (VIDEO)

Pablo Lavallén’s tenure in charge of Colón didn’t get off to the best start last weekend with defeat to Aldosivi but it was a far more positive on Tuesday as El Sabalero eased to victory over Deportivo Municipal in Lima.

Goals have been a problem as Colón’s domestic form has faltered over recent weeks yet just before the break, Lavallén’s side broke the deadlock. Luis Rodríguez’s punt forward found the run of Marcelo Estigarribia and the Paraguayan’s chest control took the ball around goalkeeper Steven Rivadeneyra for a simple finish.

Shortly after half time, Rodríguez would double the lead, firing low into the net after Fernando Zuqui’s nod down.

And the influential Pulga would turn provider once more soon after threading a pass through for Cristian Bernardi to slot in number three.

The two sides meet again back in Santa Fe in a month but with a three-goal advantage, the Argentine club have one foot already in the second round of this year’s competition.
