Bou fires Unión past Huracán & De La Vega rescues point for Lanús in Sarandí (VIDEO)

Huracán’s woeful run of form continued in Santa Fe on Monday evening as Unión took advantage to earn a 1-0 win.

The only goal of the game came after only five minutes when Walter Bou pounced on some ponderous defending by Saúl Salcedo. The Paraguayan’s defensive header going straight up in the air allowing Bou to hold off a challenge and hook the ball back over his head and that of goalkeeper Antony Silva.

Given Huracán’s problems in front of goal that was enough. Lucas Barrios did see a shot cleared off the line during the second half but otherwise El Globo limped to another defeat. A run of one win in eight and only one goal in the last five leave El Globo with plenty to think about over the summer break.

Earlier in Sarandí, Lanús rode their luck but picked up a point against Arsenal.

After consecutive defeats had halted Lanús’ rise toward the top of the table, Luis Zubeldía wanted a response from his players and although the performance wasn’t what the manager would have demanded, a late Pedro De La Vega goal did avoid another defeat.

A share of the points will have frustrated Arsenal far more after two marginal offside decisions chalked off what had looked like valid goals. Nicolás Giménez’s well taken goal just before the hour mark broke the deadlock moments after the midfielder had rattled the crossbar yet it wasn’t enough. De La Vega off the bench, tapping in from close range to level it up.

Unión  1 – 0  Huracán

Arsenal  1 – 1  Lanús
