Defensive frailities once again cost Boca Juniors as they slumped to defeat in La Bombonera against Mexican side, Toluca. With Carlos Bianchi back at the helm expectations are high for Boca in this years competition, having reached the final last year, but there is a lot of work to be done on this evidence. Boca led at half time thanks to a Santiago Silva penalty but sloppy defending in the second half allowed first, Carlos Esquivel and then Edgar Benitez to escape the offside trap and fire past Orion in the Boca goal.
Elsewhere, a rescheduled game from last years Apertura tournament saw Quilmes draw with Tigre. Tigre’s involvement in this game has postponed their first Libertadores game until next week.
